Resources & FAQ

Everything you need to know before your journey to balance begins.

The Essentials

Does it hurt? I'm a bit needle-phobic.

Acupuncture needles are hair-thin and flexible—nothing like the needles used for injections. Most people don't feel them at all, or describe a tiny "mosquito bite" sensation that lasts a second. Once they are in, you'll likely feel a deep sense of relaxation (the "acu-high").

Is it safe? What about the quality of needles?

Absolutely. We use only sterile, single-use, disposable needles. Karla is a member of the British Acupuncture Council (MBAcC), ensuring the highest standards of safety and hygiene in the UK.

What happens during my first session?

We start with an in-depth consultation. We talk about your health history, sleep, digestion, and goals. After checking your pulse and tongue (traditional diagnostics), you’ll receive your first treatment, which usually involves resting for 20-30 minutes with the needles in.

Fertility & Women's Health

Can acupuncture help with IVF or natural conception?

Yes. Acupuncture is widely used to support fertility by improving blood flow to the pelvic organs, regulating hormones, and reducing the stress that often accompanies the fertility journey. Many clients combine it with IVF to support the various stages of the cycle.

Is Womb Massage (Mayan Massage) only for fertility?

While excellent for fertility, it’s also transformative for digestion, gut health, and managing symptoms of endometriosis or PCOS. It’s a gentle, external technique that guides internal organs back into their correct positions.

What is LLLT (Cold Laser) and does it help fertility?

Low-Level Laser Therapy uses specific light wavelengths to recharge cellular energy (ATP). In a fertility context, it can help support egg quality and improve the uterine environment. It is completely painless and non-invasive.

Logistics & Booking

How do I book an appointment?

You can book for all three of our locations—Wandsworth, Notting Hill, and Marylebone—directly through our website. Simply click any 'Book Now' button, select your clinic, and choose a time that works for you. No need to call around!

What should I wear to my appointment?

Loose-fitting, comfortable clothing is best. We often need to access points on your lower legs, arms, and back. We have towels and blankets to keep you warm and modest during the session.

Can I use my private health insurance?

Many providers (like Bupa, AXA, and Vitality) cover acupuncture if the practitioner is BAcC registered. Check with your provider first; we can provide the receipts you need to claim back your fees.

What is your cancellation policy?

We require 24 hours' notice for any cancellations or rescheduling. This allows us to offer the time slot to someone else on our waiting list. Late cancellations may incur a fee.

Deep Dives

Is acupuncture only for women?

Not at all. While we specialise in women's health and fertility, we see many men for stress management, back pain, sports injuries, and male-factor fertility support. Everyone is welcome.

Should I eat before my session?

It’s best to have a light snack or meal about 1–2 hours before your appointment. You don't want to be overly full, but you shouldn't have an empty stomach either, as this helps prevent any lightheadedness.

How soon will I feel the effects?

Many people feel an immediate sense of calm or "lightness" after the first session. For chronic physical issues or hormonal balancing, you'll usually notice a cumulative shift after 3 to 4 treatments.

Can I go back to work immediately after?

Yes, but we recommend taking it easy if you can. Your body is doing a lot of "behind the scenes" work after a session, so staying hydrated and avoiding a high-intensity gym session right after is a good idea.
