Immune system boost with moxa
In Traditional Chinese Medicine, moxibustion as an immune system boost has a history of more than 3000 years.
What is moxibustion?
Moxibustion is a non-invasive application of a yellow cotton like herb called Moxa to specific acupuncture points on the skin.
Once applied, it is then ignited close to the skin. The plant Mugwort is also known as Artemisia vulgaris, or Ai Ye in Chinese medicine. Furthermore, Mugwort gets its botanical name from the Greek moon goddess Artemis.
What is moxibustion used for?
There are different techniques of applying moxa. It can be used directly or indirectly, combined with acupuncture or on its own.
From a Chinese medicine point of view there is no better way of boosting immunity than through moxibustion .
Specifically in Chinese Medicine, moxibustion is used as a preventative method as part of tonification treatments to help to strengthen body organs.
It warms the body and expels the cold, strengthens the Qi and helps with fatigue.
Additionally, Moxibustion together with acupuncture helps to increases your white blood cells so you will be less susceptible to catch illnesses.
In Japan, an ancient text talks about the use of moxibustion on the point ST36 every day for longevity.
The Japanese doctor Shimetaro Hara used to burn moxa on his ST36 every day and lived to 108 yrs old.
This is the perfect time of year for treatments to boost your immune system and with the Coronavirus (COVID-19) spreading a good way to see the efficiency of moxa.
